St Jean-de-monts
A beautiful sandy beach, which stretches for milesthe locals consider
one of the most stunning in France, it also has great watersports.
A Saturday morning market a couple of miles away for superb fresh
produce.
St Gilles-croix-de-vie
Famed for its fresh sardines,there is a tiny museum, the Maison du
Pêcheur, which used to be a fisherman’s cottage (approx
10 miles).
Noirmoutier island
Escape the mainland for a short time to admire the small island of
Noirmoutier. You can relax on the unspoilt beaches (Bois de La Chaize
is the prettiest) check out the ruins of the 7th century monastery
or visit the Oceanile waterpark (approx 15 miles).
Apremont lake
Apremont, half an hours drive away, is a pretty village with a medieval
castle, a large lake and a sandy beach. You can hire pedalos, flat-bottomed
boats and canoes to paddle leisurely around the lake. You can try
out the bar and restaurant which have stunning views over the lake.
